How To Style: Me & Zena "Entertain Me" Pendant

If you're a regular reader of the Sparklecandy blog you'll know that we often post suggestions on how to style some of our jewellery. Today, we've decided to offer some ideas of how to wear this fabulously retro Me & Zena 'Entertain Me' pendant.

As you can see, the pendant is in the shape of a 1950s television, complete with static screen! If you look closely, you can see that the words “Me & Zena” are embossed in gold underneath the screen.

Below are two Polyvore sets that we've created around this piece. If you are a Polyvore user yourself, we'd love to see the sets you've created around our jewellery! Comment here with the link, tweet it to us or share it on our Facebook fan page.

Me & Zena Look One: Whimsical

There's something about this television pendant that makes us want to don a huge pair of Audrey Hepbun-esque sunglasses and a floral print and pretend that we're hanging out in Paris in the 1950s. Get the look with a ditsy tea dress, a leather satchel and some pretty sandals.

Me & Zena Look Two: Edgy

To really show off the pendant, we suggest something a little more eye-catching. Think coloured jeans, contrasting colours and a simple neckline to draw the eye to the pendant. We love the way the gold of the pendent looks with yellow!

You can find the 'Entertain me' pendant here, or view our full Me & Zena collection here

Designer Profile: Love From Hetty and Dave

Today on the blog we have a bit of an exciting post! We recently welcomed designer jewellery line “Love From Hetty and Dave” to the Sparklecandy family – and we can't wait to share some of their gorgeous pieces with you.

The “Love From Hetty and Dave” line is the brainchild of British designer Zoe Larkins. She claims to have been raised on a diet of buttons, sequins, ribbons and thread; and, judging by her fabulous hand sewn brooches, we believe her!

Zoe's brooch designs are inspired by 1950's tattoo designs and mexican arts and crafts, resulting in a plethora of wonderfully kitsch jewellery items. Every single item is cut and stitched by hand, so you can be sure that you're ordering something really special.

We've spotted a number of “Love From Hetty and Dave” items on some of our fave celebrities, including Amy Winehouse (pictured below with a “Hetty and Dave” brooch adorning her beehive), Jodie Marsh and Tahita from the New Young Pony Club.

One of our favourite pieces from the “Love From Hetty and Dave” collection is this speech bubble brooch.

Isn't the overstitching gorgeous?! This brooch looks like it's just fallen straight of the pages of a comic book, and costs just £14.

Next up is this fabulous leopard print heart brooch.

Emblazoned with “Rock & Roll” in hot pink, this brooch is very difficult to resist. It is priced at £25.

Finally, how could we resist including this oh-so-cute mushroom brooch?!

Featuring a smiling mushroom reminiscent of the character in the Super Mario games, this brooch never fails to brighten our days. This brooch is just £12.50.

Designer Profile: Marion Barclay Designer Jewellery

One of our newest designers on the Sparklecandy website, Marion Barclay is a breakthrough designer based in the UK. Her jewellery is created using a specialised technique of dyed aluminium, decorated with sterling silver accents and freshwater pearl. We began stocking Marion's collection last month, and have already found it to be really popular. We're one of the first online boutiques to stock the collection.

Like many of Marion's pieces, this Black Heart and Seed Pendant features an intricate rococco design. The pendent measures approximately 2cm by 2cm and comes on a stirling silver 16” chain. This piece costs £40.

If you fancy something a bit more colourful – this aqua pearl drop necklace may be more your style. Featuring that gorgeous rococco design again, and a hanging freshwater pearl. Wonderful both in the summer and as a mood-lifter in winter, this piece costs £65.

In addition to Marion's rococco heart designs, Sparklecandy.co.uk also stocks a great selection of red rose designs.

In addition to these pearl decorated stud earrings (£25), we just love this large rose pendant.

Measuring a fabulous 4cm by 4cm, this is a real statement piece. Priced at £60, this is a great option for a gift for someone special.

We just love Marion Barclay's selection of unusual and stunning pieces, and know that you will too! All pieces are handmade in the UK – making them that little bit more special.

New Lines Added to the Sparklecandy Sale!

As you'll know if you're a fan of Sparklecandy on Twitter or Facebook – our end of season sale started a couple of weeks ago. Sparkly things of all shapes and sizes have been flying off the Sparklecandy shelves like mad since then, meaning that we'll have plenty of space to introduce our A/W jewellery collection in a few weeks time.

New lines are constantly being added to the sale, and in this post we thought we'd share with you some of the goodies that we're offering at cut price.

One of the lines that we're most excited about is the Acid Alice collection from Tarina Tarantino. The whole collection now has a fabulous 25% off!

We particularly love these Filigree Cameo Earrings, now down to £66 (down from £88).

Decorated with blue lucite, Swarovski crystals ad a scene from Alice in Wonderland – these earrings couldn't get any more fabulously psychedelic.

If the earrings aren't crazy enough for you, how about a touch of the Mad Hatter with this eye catching small cameo pendant? Priced at £40.50 (down from £54) this is a great way to introduce the Acid Alice collection to your outfit.

This is an (almost!) classic pendant design, decorated with an image of the Mad Hatter himself surrounded by black Swarovski crystals.

Like all Tarina Tarantino jewellery, both these pieces from the Acid Alice collection have been handmade in Tarina's Sparkle Factory in Los Angeles.

We're also happy to announce that our Betty Boop collection is now up for grabs in the ed of season sale. With Betty Boop pendants adorning a variety of pearl necklaces and bracelets – this collection is so cute it's very difficult to resist.

This simple 20inch necklace with Betty Boop pendant is now priced at £15 down from £25.

You can see the full Sparklecandy end of season sale collection here.

Gift Ideas for Girly Girls

Here at Sparklecandy, we like to ensure that you'll find a huge variety of different styles of jewellery on our website. Whether you're a fan of bright acrylics or muted metals – we like to think that you can find it all with us. We boast collections from sixteen different jewellery designers – all with very different outlooks.

On the blog today, though, we'd like to focus on gifts for 'girly girls'. We've put together a list of pieces of jewellery that make great gifts for big girls and little girls alike. (Because, hey, can you really go wrong with pink and sparkly?!)

First up, we'd like to highlight the work of one of newest designers Marion Barclay. Particularly popular with the girly girls among us is this gorgeous rose pendant.

Created from hand-dyed aluminium, all Marion Barclay pieces are handmade in the UK. Perfect for a unique gift to be treasured for a long time to come, this rose pendant costs £60. Other Marion Barclay pieces start from £25.

Lovers of all things pink will be particularly interested in one of our newest pieces; this Supercute Rosa charm bracelet.

Featuring pink acrylic charms and crystals with a metal bracelet – this bracelet will be loved by all. The Rosa charm bracelet costs £25.

This Anna Lou of London Lipstick Pendant has a wonderfully 1950s feel to it. Perfect for girly retro queens, it's actually in the sale at £8 (down from £20).

The lipstick pendant comes on a sixteen inch silver ball chain.

And finally, no collection of girly jewellery would be complete without a healthy sprinkling of Disney Couture products. We couldn't decide which of these Disney Couture necklaces would be most suitable – so we're including both! You'll also be interested to know that we're currently offering 20% of Disney Couture on the Sparklecandy website – although this is for a limited time only.

First up is the classic “Princess” necklace. A staple of any self-respecting girly girl's jewellery box for a long time now, the Disney Couture version is gold-plated and features a sparkly crystal centrepiece. Available for £20 for a limited time only.

Secondly, we love this “Fairest of them All” necklace. Girly yet deliciously quirky, this piece is also currently priced at £20.

So there you have it, a quick list of some of the girliest and prettiest pieces of jewellery on the Sparklecandy website. A must for all the girly girls in your life!

Feeling Fruity!

You've probably noticed by now that we like to keep things bright and colourful (and sparkly!) around here. We're particularly fond of jewellery that catches the eye, too, so we're always on the hunt for wonderfully quirky new shapes. Something that fulfils all of these requirements is fruit themed jewellery, and we definitely have quite a lot of this in our online boutique!

So, are you feeling fruity?! We're about to do a rundown of our top three pieces of fruit-themed jewellery!

Three;

First up is this delightfully sparkly cherry pendant. From the Girl Props collection, this pendant looks almost good enough to eat. And as if that wasn't enough? It's yours for just £9! We'd love to wear this with all black to give a cheeky spin to an otherwise elegant outfit.

Two;

Why not make like Eve and adorn yourself with this fabulous apple pendant? Complete with shiny dimantes and a 16 inch chain – this necklace has everything going for it. This apple pendant is from the Supercute necklaces collection and costs £6. It also comes in red.

One;

How could we resist awarding this fabulous banana necklace the number one spot?! So kitsch it almost hurts, we think this necklace would look great with just about anything. Each of the thirteen bananas measure more than 4cm long, making this necklace a real statement piece. And the best part? It's down to £5 in the sale. We must be bananas, haha! (Sorry, we couldn't resist the pun!) Bad jokes aside, get your order in quick before we run out!

So there you have it, some of our favourite fruity themed pieces in the Sparklecandy boutique at the moment.

Les Nereides Lockets

Here at Sparklecandy we're always on the look out for gifts with a difference. We know how important it is to find the perfect gift for the important people in your life – and we do our very best to provide these gifts for you. All our full-priced products come beautifully wrapped in Sparklecandy packaging, so buying a gift from us means that you won't even need to struggle with the wrapping paper!

One particular range that we think make great gifts is the Les Nereides Lockets selection. The range, entitled “Open Your Heart” consists of 14 karat gold plated lockets that open to reveal tiny enamel figurines. Handmade in France, there are four different designs, which make them perfect for any occasion. Originally priced at £98, we're now offering the lockets at £78.40 each (that's a fabulous 20% off!) Be aware though that this discount is only for a limited time.

The first locket is perfect to give to brides on their big day – or even as an engagement present.

As you can see, it features a tiny enamel bride and groom. We love the gorgeous dress and veil on the bride! The attention to detail in Les Nereides Lockets is beautiful – and you can be sure that your gift will be treasured for years to come.

The second locket is a more versatile gift. It features a tiny little girl with a bunch of flowers.

This locket would be the perfect gift from a daughter to a mother – on Mother's Day, her birthday, or just because! We also think that this locket would be a wonderful gift for a 16th, 18th or 21st birthday – because what girl doesn't love a bunch of roses?

The next locket, featuring a kissing couple, is a great step on from the little girl with the flowers.

We'd suggest that this locket could be given as an anniversary gift. (Although the man in question would probably need a point in the right direction!)

Finally, what collection would be complete without a gift for expectant and new mums? The last Les Nereides Locket has a tiny stork inside holding an even tinier baby.

This is obviously the perfect gift for new mums and expectant mums alike – and definitely makes a great alternative to babygros!

You can view the full Les Nereides collection here.
